Rotor-based microwave digestion

ETHOS Microwave Labstation

ETHOS Microwave Labstation is a microwave digestion system for preparing samples for elemental analysis by ICP-MS, ICP-OES and AAS, designed for high productivity, safety and reproducibility. The system uses the contactless easyTEMP sensor for direct monitoring of sample temperature, while rotors with vent-and-reseal technology ensure safe operation at high temperatures and pressures. Depending on laboratory needs, a 15-vessel rotor with 100 mL vessels is available for demanding matrices and larger sample weights, as well as 24- and 44-vessel rotors for high sample throughput. With additional accessories, the platform can also be used for extraction, evaporation, concentration and other sample preparation procedures.

Microwave digestion – Single Reaction Chamber

ultraWAVE 3

ultraWAVE 3 is a unique microwave digestion solution based on Single Reaction Chamber (SRC) technology, which eliminates the need for conventional closed vessels and allows different sample types, sample weights and acid combinations to be processed simultaneously in a single run. With racks of different capacities, the system offers exceptional flexibility, from demanding samples and larger sample weights to routine high-throughput analysis. High operating pressures and temperatures enable complete digestion of complex matrices, while automated operation, easy vial handling and minimal need for consumables significantly increase laboratory productivity and reduce cost per analysis.

Microwave extraction in food analysis

ETHOS X Food Applications

ETHOS X Food Applications is a microwave platform for preparing food and feed samples, with a particular focus on total fat determination. Thanks to closed-vessel technology, hydrolysis and extraction take place simultaneously in a single step, significantly shortening analysis time, reducing solvent consumption and simplifying work compared to classic Soxhlet methods. Gravimetric fat determination for 15 samples can be completed in approximately 3.5 hours, from initial sample weighing to final result. The system allows a single procedure to be applied to different matrices without re-optimising the method, processing multiple samples in one run with precise contactless temperature control via the easyTEMP sensor. In addition to total and free fat, the platform can be used to prepare samples for FAME, MOAH/MOSH and organic contaminant analysis such as PAHs, dioxins and PCBs, making it a flexible solution for modern food control laboratories.

Microwave extraction of environmental samples

ETHOS X Environmental Applications

ETHOS X Environmental Applications is a solution for microwave extraction of organic pollutants from soil, sediment, sludge and solid waste, in accordance with US EPA Method 3546 and other international standards. The purpose-developed fastEX technology uses disposable 100 mL glass vials and processes up to 24 samples, with sample weights of up to 30 g. The system is suitable for extracting PCBs, PAHs, TPH, dioxins, pesticides, herbicides, phenols and other semi-volatile organic compounds, with much shorter extraction times and lower solvent consumption than traditional procedures. Disposable vials further reduce the risk of cross-contamination and eliminate vessel washing, simplifying routine work and increasing laboratory productivity.

Microwave extraction of essential oils

ETHOS X Natural Products

ETHOS X Natural Products is a microwave platform for fast, environmentally friendly extraction of essential oils, aromas and other natural compounds from plant material without added solvents or water. Patented selective microwave heating technology uses the water naturally present in the plant material to release the target compounds, significantly shortening extraction time, reducing energy consumption and avoiding thermal degradation while preserving the natural profile of the extract. ETHOS X supports 2, 5 and 12 L reactors, allowing easy scaling from small research samples to larger batches. Besides essential oils, the system extracts aromas, pigments, flavonoids and carotenoids, with precise temperature control and the option of analysing the extract directly, without additional clean-up or solvent exchange steps.
