pH Neutralization of Wastewater

The KYOCERA neutralization unit solves the problem of acidic and alkaline liquid waste simply and quickly by neutralization. The control unit measures the pH of the waste and brings it within the set range by dosing reaction chemicals (HCl and NaOH). After neutralization, the waste is discharged into the municipal sewer. The whole process runs automatically; the user only needs to monitor the wear of the pH electrode and replace it when the unit raises an alarm, and to check the level of the reaction chemicals and top them up as needed.

The length of a neutralization cycle depends on the pH of the waste and the concentration of the chemicals, and can range from a few minutes to 90 minutes. The smallest unit has a capacity of 100 litres; larger volumes of waste can be handled by installing a collection tank upstream of the unit, so that larger quantities are collected according to the user’s needs and then neutralized in cycles, with the unit drawing a set amount of waste each time.

Collection can be done manually, by pouring waste into the collection tank, or by connecting one or more points where waste is generated (usually sinks) to the collection tank through a local drainage network.

  • Automatic HCl / NaOH dosing
  • Unit capacity from 100 L
  • Cycle: a few minutes to 90 min
KYOCERA integrated fume hood scrubber
Fume hood scrubber

Integrated Fume Hood Exhaust Scrubber

KYOCERA integrated waste-gas scrubbers for fume hoods enable decentralized cleaning of chemically contaminated exhaust air directly at the source of emission – the fume hood. This makes them economical to operate and helps protect staff, building materials and the environment. These units are adapted to the standard dimensions of laboratory fume hoods and form an integral part of them; they are designed to operate fully automatically and in conjunction with the fume hood. A patented system of filters and a rotating water-mist spray removes contaminants from the exhaust gases with high efficiency, “cleaning” them of all compounds that bind with water. The pollutants removed in this way pass into the liquid phase and are then treated as liquid waste.

The waste-gas cleaning capacity of this unit is 500 to 1400 m³/h. In combination with a KYOCERA neutralization unit, a complete cycle of gas cleaning and wastewater neutralization can be created, rounding off the environmental treatment in your laboratory.

  • 500–1400 m³/h
  • Fully automatic
  • Patented filter and water-mist system
KYOCERA stand-alone exhaust gas scrubber
Stand-alone scrubber

Stand-alone Exhaust Gas Scrubber

Like the integrated scrubber, this unit offers the same function, but it is designed as a stand-alone unit that can be connected, in your laboratory or anywhere in your plant or facility, to any source of waste gas that must be cleaned before being released into the atmosphere. The system is also automated and runs completely unattended; with alarms set for all key operating parameters, it warns you in good time when maintenance is needed, when consumables must be replaced, about the wastewater generated in the unit, and the like.

Regardless of the type of equipment generating the waste gases, the diameter of the ventilation duct or its position, this unit can be adapted to any requirement, as long as a power supply and mains water can be provided.

The waste-gas cleaning capacity of this unit is 500 to 1800 m³/h.

  • 500–1800 m³/h
  • Unattended operation
  • Requires power and mains water
